China Jiangsu Suntory Foodstuffs Co. Ltd (herein after called Suntory), one of earliest and largest Joint Ventures (J.V.) in China's foodstuffs industry, is a Sino-Japanese J.V. established in 1984.

Beer is its main product. Prince and New Century are the two major categories of product, covering a total number of more than 25 products. Suntory concentrates Chinese, Japanese and German brewing technologies in its production. Suntory beer, brewed from high quality malt, rice, hop and brewing water, is clear and transparent. Its foams are fine and white and last long in glass. Its excellent taste has been attracting more and more consumers. Over the past few years, Suntory has developed many new products, such as, dry beer, fresh beer, beer for fire-pot, draft beer, dark beer and canned beer. It is the only canned beer producer in Jiangsu Province. The dark beer is even more tasteful and therefore strongly welcomed by consumers. During 1992—1994 its Prince and New Century won three consecutive golden prizes in the World Brussels Wines Competition. Furthermore, the Prince won the World High Quality Prize, the only one of this kind in the 1994 World Brussels Wines Competition. Up to now the Prince has won a total of 30 odd prizes from the State or Jiangsu Province, including the State Most Welcomed Product and Jiangsu Famous Product. In April of 1996 the Prince was granted the ISO9000 of quality system and the Certification of product quality, which enable Suntory to enter the World market. In 1997 Jiangsu Economic Commission once more granted the Prince Jiangsu Famous Brand and the Prince was selected as Jiangsu Consumer Satisfactory Product.

Suntory has been experiencing a leaping development. Its quantity of product has increased from 10,000 to 120,000 tones per year and the amount of profit & taxes from negative to RMB yuan 60 million. Its products have experienced the history from mere malt and beer of one kind to the present malt, drink, beer and products of the Prince family.
