Lianyungang is a comprehensive transportation hub city planned by the country. As a national hub port and a trunk container port, Lianyungang Port has established relations with the ports in over 160 countries and regions. It is the most convenient sea port for regions along the New Eurasia Land Bridge and a shared sea transportation base for member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The Lianyungang-Xinjiang-Asia railway service has been launched with two services each week.

Over 80 years of development, Lianyungang Port has built 4 major port areas including Lianyun, Ganyu, Xuwei and Guanhe. A 300,000-ton channel has been dredged. It has 52 10,000-ton-plus productive berths, including 6^thgeneration container terminals and a 300,000-ton ore terminal. The overall capacity reaches 140 million tons.

A trunk road network featuring“five east-west roads, four north-south roads” has been established, including 3 highways, namely, G30 (Lianyungang-Huo’erguosi), G15 (Shenyang–Haikou) and G25 (Changchun–Shenzhen), 3 national roads and 8 provincial roads.

The building of several railways have been started, including a Lianyungang-Yancheng railway, a 

Lianyungang-Huai’an-Yangzhou-Zhenjiang railway and a Qingdao-Lianyungang railway. The construction of the Xuzhou-Lianyungang section of the Longhai passenger railway will soon be started. A high speed railway network leading to all directions will be formed. There will be services from Lianyungang to Shanghai, Nanjing, Qingdao and Xuzhou.

Lianyungang has 84 inland river waterways.The inland river system links to the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and the Yangtze River.

Lianyungang Baitabu Airport is a 4D grade airport. There are flightsto over 20 domestic and international cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong. The planned new airport will be an international airport in neighboring regions and the construction will be started within this year.
