Land Resources

The total land area of Lianyungang City is 7626 square kilometers, including 3707.55 square kilometers of cultivated land, 158.83 square kilometers of garden land, 445.55 square kilometers of forest land, 98.03 square kilometers of grassland, 1287.69 square kilometers of urban village and industrial and mining land, 161.64 square kilometers of land for transportation, 1364.88 square kilometers of water area and hydraulic buildings, 193.46 square kilometers of wetland area and 213.43 square kilometers of other lands.

Marine Resources

The sea area of Lianyungang City is 7,516 square kilometers, with a coastline of 195.88 kilometers. There are 20 islands in the territory, with a total area of 6.94 square kilometers. It has Haizhou Bay Fishing Ground, one of the eight major fishing grounds in China, Huaibei Salt Farm, one of the four major sea salt producing areas in China, the largest laver breeding and processing base, river crab breeding base and prawn breeding base in China. The former three islands sea area is the only sea treasure base in Jiangsu Province.

Water Resources

It has a dense river network with 82 provincial backbone rivers, of which 15 are sea-entry rivers, such as Guanhe River and Longwang River. The total water resources of the city are 2.7 billion cubic meters, with 167 reservoirs of small, medium and large sizes, of which Shilianghe Reservoir is the largest artificial reservoir in Jiangsu Province, with a total capacity of 526 million cubic metres.

Mineral Resources

49 kinds of minerals were found in the city, including 30 non-metallic minerals, 14 metallic minerals and 5 energy and water gas minerals. The city is nationally renowned for its crystal resources and possesses geothermal resources with favorable metallogenic conditions and a wide distribution. It ranks first in the province in reserves of phosphorus, serpentinite, graphite, and eclogite-series minerals (including rutile, omphacite, and garnet). Additionally, it holds certain advantages in building stone materials such as granite, marble, and gneiss, as well as construction sand.

Electric Power Resource

As a key energy base in East China, Lianyungang is equipped with large-scale nuclear and thermal power plants such as the Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant and Xinhai Power Generation Co., Ltd., and is capable of meeting the electricity needs of diverse enterprises. In 2024, the city's total installed power capacity reached 16.945 million kw, including 6.608 million kW of nuclear power and 6.9169 million kW of renewable energy. The annual electricity generation totaled 75.421 billion kWh, with nuclear power contributing 51.763 billion kWh, wind power 2.524 billion kWh, and solar PV 5.542 billion kWh.
