The world’s first 1,000-ton high-performance carbon fiber production line for SYT70 (T1100 grade) was put into production in Lianyungang on June 28, 2026. The project simultaneously launched the world’s largest high-performance large-tow carbon fiber production line and the world’s largest high-modulus carbon fiber production line, covering all three mainstream carbon fiber categories of general, high-strength and high-modulus, with core equipment localization rate above 95%. Meng, Secretary-General of the China Composites Industry Association, stated that the operation marks that China’s single-base production capacity of high-performance carbon fiber ranks first globally, filling the gap in large-scale mass production of China’s high-end carbon fiber. Relying on full-chain high-end, intelligent and green technology iteration, the new production lines lay a solid foundation for independent material supply for national key equipment such as domestic large aircraft and offshore wind power.
The global leading position stems from the long-term technical accumulation of local Lianyungang enterprises in the carbon fiber field. At present, Zhongfu Shenying has fully mastered the independent industrialization core technology of 10,000-ton dry-jet wet spinning, completed the engineering mass production of SYT80 (T1200 grade) ultra-high-strength carbon fiber, and built a carbon fiber R&D and production system covering all strength grades. With the rapid upgrading of domestic high-end equipment and new energy industries, the market has put forward requirements for large-scale production, high precision and low energy consumption in the carbon fiber industry. Zhang Guoliang, Chief Scientist of Zhongfu Shenying, said that relying on the self-developed carbon fiber 4.0 industrialization system and full sets of domestic equipment, the application threshold of domestic carbon fiber has been greatly reduced, and the material safety of key industrial chains such as large aircraft, offshore wind power and UAVs is fully guaranteed.
Each of the three newly put into operation production lines is 1,200 meters long from north to south, with a standardized layout of the three core processes of polymerization, spinning and carbonization, precisely filling the domestic production capacity gap in the high-end carbon fiber segmentation field. This capacity expansion is by no means extensive production expansion by simply adding equipment. Instead, it relies on the world’s first 4-meter-wide complete set of domestic equipment for T1100 grade, overcoming the long-standing common problems in the industry of limited equipment width and the difficulty of balancing production capacity and quality.
Aiming at the quality control fluctuation problem easily caused by large-scale mass production, the production line builds a full-process digital management platform based on the deep integration of new-generation information and communication technology and advanced process manufacturing technology, realizing traceability of the whole life cycle data of products. It also realizes robotization of key processes in APC automatic batching and AGV intelligent logistics for the first time, breaking through the industry compatibility barrier between large production capacity and high-precision quality control. The annual production capacity of the single high-performance large-tow carbon fiber line has been increased from 3,000 tons to 5,000 tons.
The dual innovation of core raw material production technology and green energy use further consolidates the core competitiveness of the industry. The project adopts the aviation-grade carbon fiber raw material produced by the core production technology of Lianyungang enterprise Sierbang, locking the quality of high-end products from the source; relying on the nuclear steam energy supply technology of Jiangsu Nuclear Power and on-site steam reuse technology, the comprehensive energy consumption is reduced by more than 15%, effectively solving the structural pain points of high energy consumption and high cost in high-end carbon fiber mass production.
Meng said that the operation of the three production lines has achieved all-round breakthroughs in the scale, cost and quality of domestic carbon fiber, marking that China’s high-end new material industry has entered a new stage of comprehensive leap in technology, quality and standards from scale chasing, providing solid support for the high-quality development of domestic strategic emerging industries.
