Recently, the construction of the Nanjing-Huai'an Intercity Railway has witnessed significant progress. With the successful pouring of the first 0# block of the cross-Chu River low-pylon cable-stayed bridge, the largest span bridge along the entire route, this technically demanding and complex key control project has officially entered a new phase of continuous beam construction.

It is reported that the Liuhe Grand Bridge's cross-Chu River low-pylon cable-stayed bridge on the Nanjing-Huai'an Intercity Railway is a crucial control project characterized by its large span, high technology content, and intricate construction challenges. The bridge spans a total length of 522 meters, with a main span of 220 meters. The 710# main pier's 0# block poured this time is 21 meters long, 12.6 meters wide, and 10.5 meters high, requiring 1,219.1 cubic meters of concrete. Utilizing the disk-fastener scaffolding method, the pouring was completed in a single operation.

"The Nanjing-Huai'an Intercity Railway is not only a backbone line of the Jiangsu Yangtze River Delta Urban Agglomeration Intercity Railway but also an essential part of the Yangtze River Delta Intercity Rail Transit Network. The newly constructed line will be 179 kilometers long, with 134 kilometers falling within Jiangsu Province, and is designed for a speed of 350 kilometers per hour. The entire route will feature six stations: Huai'an East, Hongze, Jinhu, Tianchang, Liuhe West, and Nanjing North." said a relevant official from the city's railway office. Upon completion and operation, the Nanjing-Huai'an Intercity Railway will enable a direct one-hour connection between Nanjing and Huai'an, significantly contributing to the improvement of the regional intercity rail transit network, enhancing railway transportation capacity and service quality, promoting coordinated and sustainable economic development along the Jiangsu-Anhui corridor, and accelerating the construction of a modern integrated transportation system throughout the province.

For Lianyungang, the development of the Nanjing-Huai'an Intercity Railway has garnered immense attention. It is understood that this railway will not only bridge the gap in high-speed rail connections between Nanjing and Huai'an but also enable Lianyungang and Suqian to reach Nanjing via Huai'an, further facilitating the realization of the Jiangsu Provincial Yangtze River Delta Urban Agglomeration Intercity Rail Transit Construction Plan (2018-2025) goals, which aim to establish a 1.5-hour transportation circle between Nanjing and all provincial-level cities within Jiangsu, a one-hour circle within the Yangtze River region, and a 0.5 to 1-hour circle between central cities in the Yangtze River region and adjacent cities. Upon completion, the Nanjing-Huai'an Intercity Railway will establish a rapid corridor between Nanjing, Huai'an, Lianyungang, and Yancheng, enabling "shortest-path" direct connections from Lianyungang and Yancheng to Nanjing.

At present, the shortest time for the high-speed railway from Lianyungang to Nanjing is about 2.5 hours, and the longest is 3 hours, mainly through the route of Lianyungang-Huai'an-Yangzhou-Zhenjiang-Nanjing. The Ninghuai Intercity Railway starts from the Huai'an East Railway Station in the north, connects with the Lianhuai section of the Lianhuaiyangzhen Railway, and finally extends to Lianyungang, forming the Ninghuailian Intercity Railway. The time for the high-speed railway from Lianyungang to Nanjing will be shortened to 1.5 hours. The construction of this railway is of great significance for thoroughly implementing the development strategy of the Yangtze River Delta regional integration, accelerating the construction of the "Yangtze River Delta on Rails", and promoting the economic and social development of the areas along the route. In Lianyungang, it can also go north to Rizhao and Qingdao in Shandong Province through the Qingdao-Lianyungang Railway.
