Lianyungang Port Sets New Record for Ro-Ro Vehicle Exports; NEV Exports Jan.-Aug. Surge 78.76% Year-on-Year

Recently, the “Anji Dingsheng” vessel, loaded with 4,164 domestically produced vehicles, slowly departed from the Lianyungang Port bound for countries like Saudi Arabia and Jordan. Since the beginning of this year, the ro-ro transport business at Lianyungang Port has been operating at a high level. From January to August, exports of new energy vehicles (NEVs) exceeded 34,500 units, a year-on-year increase of 78.76%, setting a new historical record.

Faced with continuously growing export demand and pressure from concentrated ship arrivals, Lianyungang Port has focused on improving the efficiency of ro-ro transport, specifically working to streamline the entire process from “ship arrival to export departure”. By strengthening information interconnection, resource sharing, and complementary advantages across various segments, the port continues to add momentum for the “going global” of key cargoes like NEVs.

“We integrated resources from three major vehicle transport teams—Xugou West, Mayao, and Xugou East—to build a three-zone linkage system featuring information sharing, resource coordination, and task mutual aid, forming an efficient operational pattern where the core zone leads the effort and supporting zones provide backup,” said Peng, Deputy General Manager of the port’s Dongfang Port Operations Branch. The ro-ro operations team proactively sought breakthroughs, breaking down regional operational barriers. The three parties have clear divisions of labor and close cooperation, precisely solving operational pressures caused by yard adjustments.

At critical moments during intensive operations, the port established a Communist Party Member Task Force. Party members voluntarily took on urgent and difficult tasks, successfully completing vehicle transfer missions. Under the exemplary leadership of Party members, the ro-ro operation team swiftly sparked a competitive fervor centered around “competing in efficiency, quality, and accountability”, fostering a strong atmosphere where “everyone strives for excellence and emphasizes practical action”. This has injected a powerful red driving force into the smooth progress of frontline work.

Police-enterprise collaboration added further momentum to transport efficiency. The Traffic Police Brigade of the Lianyungang Port Public Security Bureau optimized traffic flow plans and opened dedicated channels, helping the port set a new record of “transferring 979 vehicles within 24 hours”, effectively shortening ship turnover cycles. This breakthrough not only ensured the safety and order of the transfer operations but also significantly reduced ship demurrage time, securing valuable time for the overall ro-ro operations and demonstrating the powerful effectiveness of police-enterprise coordination.

In the critical period of striving to achieve Q3 targets, Lianyungang Port will deepen its multi-dimensional coordination mechanisms, optimize operational processes, and enhance service quality, further consolidating its status as a ro-ro transport hub. This will assist in building Lianyungang Port into an important international logistics hub connecting Asia and Europe, injecting vigorous momentum into the smooth flow of the “Belt and Road” logistics channel and the high-quality development of the regional economy.
