Lianyungang City Accelerates “Two-Way Race” Between AI and Equipment Manufacturing

On April 14, it was learned from the innovation application salon titled “AI Empowers Equipment, Innovation Drives the Future” that, relying on the powerful computing power support of “Wukong Intelligent Computing”, the nation’s first industrial intelligent computing node, our city is comprehensively promoting the in-depth integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and the entire industrial chain of equipment manufacturing. Through an integrated layout of computing power foundation, policy support, and scenario empowerment, the intelligent transformation of the equipment manufacturing industry is being comprehensively accelerated.
The equipment manufacturing industry is a key pillar industrial cluster cultivated in our city and also a core scenario for the application of AI technology. The latest data shows that by the end of 2025, there were 371 large-scale equipment manufacturing enterprises in the city, achieving an annual output value of 49.48 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 12.1%. The industry covers multiple sub-sectors such as energy equipment, textile machinery, engineering equipment, and fluid handling equipment. Products like wind turbine blades and fluid handling equipment rank among the top in the domestic market share. The technological level in areas such as carbon fiber complete equipment and new energy mining vehicles remains at the forefront of the industry, laying a solid foundation for the in-depth integration and large-scale application of AI technology.
Building on this solid industrial foundation, our city provides core support for the integrated development of “AI+ equipment” through dual safeguards of a computing power foundation and a policy system. According to a relevant person from the Municipal Industry and Information Technology Bureau, the computing power scale of “Wukong Intelligent Computing” has exceeded 9,000P. As the nation’s first industrial intelligent computing node, it can provide low-cost and high-efficiency industrial-grade computing power services to equipment manufacturing enterprises, effectively addressing the computing power bottlenecks in their intelligent transformation. Meanwhile, our city has successively introduced a series of policies such as the “Implementation Plan for Special Funds for Computing Power Development” and the “Three-Year Action Plan for AI Empowerment of New Industrialization in Lianyungang City”, making efforts from multiple dimensions including financial support, scenario openness, and technological breakthroughs to clear obstacles and provide protection for the in-depth integration of AI and the real economy.
To further open up the connection channels between technology supply and industrial demand, this salon brought together a number of high-quality industry service providers, including China Telecom AI Company, Tianyi Cloud, Huawei, Yuanlian Technology, and Uniscloud, to collectively showcase a batch of mature solutions such as the construction of industrial-grade AI task forces, 30-day digital transformation of factories, and scenario empowerment for the integration of industry and AI. Experts and enterprise representatives at the meeting had in-depth discussions on common industry challenges such as the large-scale application of AI and cross-domain collaborative innovation. They generally believed that there is still broad application potential in various aspects of our city’s equipment manufacturing industry, including R&D and design, production and manufacturing, quality management, remote operation, and energy conservation and consumption reduction. Precise docking between technology service providers and local enterprises will effectively address the pain points and difficulties in the industry’s transformation and upgrading.
Empowering new industrialization with AI has always been a core focus of our city’s industrial development. Previously, our city has held several AI supply-demand docking special events in fields such as medicine and new materials, promoting leading enterprises like Hengrui Pharma and Zhongfu Shenying Carbon Fiber Co., Ltd. to take the lead in AI applications. Going forward, our city will take this salon as a new starting point, continuously deepen the collaborative efforts of government, enterprises, academia, and research institutions, explore more innovative application scenarios with Lianyungang characteristics, and create replicable and promotable “AI+ equipment” innovative application models. This will help the city’s equipment manufacturing industry move towards intelligence, high-endization, and green development, injecting more powerful digital momentum into the construction of a modern industrial system.
