According to statistics, in the first half of the year, with the strong support of iron ore, coal, laterite nickel ore, plywood, mechanical equipment and other goods, the throughput of Lianyungang Port reached 134 million tons, a record high in the same period of previous years. Among them, the throughput in June increased by 7.47% year-on-year, the highest growth rate in each month since this year, nearly 4% higher than that in the same period of last year, the best growth level in the same period of the past five years. In terms of foreign trade, the port's foreign trade throughput in the first half of the year was 67.7297 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 5.3%. Among them, the foreign trade throughput in June reached 12.4 million tons, with a significant year-on-year increase of 11.68%, which was very eye-catching.

It is worth mentioning that the world's largest imported fertilizer ship "DOUBLE PRIDE" berthed at Lianyungang Port, breaking the berthing record of the port. During the "May Day" period, the export of Ro/Ro vehicles in Lianyungang broke the export record twice in five days; Lianyungang Port took over and unloaded the whole LNG tank container ship for the first time, and its Yuzhou Shipping has successively launched two container domestic trade ships "Maogang Shanghai" and "Huada 607", which not only increased the port capacity, but also "solved the container shortage worries" for customers.

As the node city along “Belt and Road”, Lianyungang Port enjoys a comparative advantage in container transportation. Since the beginning of this year, Lianyungang Port has actively promoted the construction of container domestic trade transit center, adhered to the "global shipping" strategy, strengthened cooperation between port and enterprises, attached importance to port-to-port cooperation, continued to layout new routes such as East America, Hainan and Nansha, promoted the export business of changing top boxes of grain into sea containers. The port has also joined hands with Xuzhou to carry out the new business model of "international train + sea river intermodal transport", vigorously promoted the coal "scattered to centralized" sea river intermodal transportation, effectively driving the growth of container transportation with 2.485 million TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 4.26%, which is also the highest growth in the same period in recent five years.

In the first half of the year, Lianyungang Port continuously arranged sea-rail intermodal transport channels such as Yucheng, Chongqing, Luoyang (Yichuan), Huaibei and Xi'an.

Through the Eurasia Land Bridge Corridor, the port can extend its port functions to customers as near as possible. In particular, the official opening of the "Hefei-Lianyungang" sea-rail intermodal transport channel for vehicle export was another proof for economic cooperation between inland enterprises and the seaport. In the first six months, the port has completed 330,000 TEUs of container sea-rail intermodal transport, with a year-on-year increase of 7.5%, reflecting the positive development momentum of the Lianyungang Port.
