Lianyungang Opens Direct Container Line to South Africa

At 5 pm on November8th, the "Robin Hunter" from COSCO Shipping Group successfully dockedat Berth No. 29 of New Oriental International Container Terminal at LianyungangPort. After loading the containers, the ship opened its first voyage to SouthAfrica at night. It signifies an important step forward in Lianyungang'sefforts to build an international hub port and actively integrate into the Beltand Road cooperation. This has also been another "heavyweight" oceanshipping line newly opened at Lianyungang port this year since the opening oflines to Southwest America, Persian Gulf of Middle East and etc. It is of greatsignificance to improve the comprehensive port service function, enhance thelevel of Lianyungang's opening up and create a good business environment.

After the opening of this route,Lianyungang port willachieve a new situation of direct connection with container liner services ofmajor ports in Africa. It is known that this route runs once a week and sailsevery Saturday. The first ship“Robin Hunter” is a vessel of COSCO MaritimeContainer Transport Co., Ltd. ,and the route order is Lianyungang - Qingdao -Ningbo - Shanghai - Nansha - Singapore - Port Kelang - Durban - Elizabeth -Port Kelang - Qinzhou - Hong Kong - Lianyungang. At present, eight 4250 TEUcontainer ships have been brought into service, of which 5 ships from COSCO and3 ships from ZIM.
