Returning with a full load of fish and keeping rubbish out of the sea. Recently, more than 1500 fishing boats in our city have been armed with new equipment - each boat is equipped with new garbage cans, and fishermen will put the garbage generated from offshore operations in garbage cans and take it back to the land for unified disposal.
Qingkou Port, the national central fishing port of Ganyu District, is one of the larger fishing ports in our city. There are many fishing boats working at sea here. Standing on the fishing boat, we can see that a green 120L garbage can is placed outside the cabin. Fishermen put the domestic garbage generated during the operation at sea and the plastic garbage cleared at sea in the garbage can, and when they return to the port, they will send the garbage to the garbage station for unified disposal. When distributing trash cans to fishing boats, publicity activities were also organized to send leaflets to fishermen to publicize marine garbage hazards and garbage classification knowledge.
Fishermen are not only producers of marine garbage, but also victims of it. A fisherman told the reporter that in the past, people did not have a strong awareness of protecting the marine environment. Garbage was thrown into the sea at will. It is urgent to change people's mind of environmental protection. Now, when catching shrimp and crabs, they are often accompanied by a large amount of plastic garbage. Fishermen are deeply affected by this. Therefore, many people support the idea of taking garbage back to shore for disposal. It is understood that there is a large amount of plastic waste in the sea, which comes from a wide range of sources, mainly including land input, marine aquaculture, fishing and other processes. Marine plastic wastes do great harm to the marine ecological environment. Especially the decomposed micro plastics invade the food chain and ultimately endanger human health. It is known that this time all fishing boats in the city were equipped with trash cans, which was implemented by the municipal bay director system leading group office in conjunction with multiple departments. Putting trash cans on fishing boats can strengthen fishermen's awareness of environmental protection, promote garbage treatment from land to shore and then to the sea, achieve full coverage, minimize garbage into the sea, improve fishermen's benefits and protect the marine ecological environment.
