A few days ago, Seminar on Jiangsu-Macao?Portuguese-speaking Countries Agricultural Cooperation was held in our city.

The meeting pointed out that Jiangsu and Portuguese-speaking countries have always maintained friendly relations. Especially since the first Jiangsu-Macao?Portuguese-speaking Countries Business Summit was held in October 2011, the exchanges and cooperation between Jiangsu, Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries in economy, trade, investment, tourism and other fields have continued to expand. During the first meeting of the Council of Jiangsu-Macao?Portuguese-speaking Countries Business Summit in 2014, five industrial cooperation promotion groups including agriculture were set up. The mechanism of agricultural exchange and cooperation has gradually been improved and continuous expansion of achievements can be seen. Jiangsu has signed a number of agricultural investment and trade agreements with Brazil, Angola and other countries. Last year, the import and export volume of agricultural products between Jiangsu and Portuguese-speaking countries reached 6.72 billion US dollars, accounting for one third of the total import and export volume of agricultural products in the whole province. The fruitful results represent the deep friendship and close partnership.

Entrepreneurs attending the meeting have expressed that they will seize the opportunity and strengthen the docking, push the agricultural cooperation of Jiangsu-Macao?Portuguese-speaking countries to a new level, and jointly compose a new chapter of win-win cooperation and coordinated development.

At the meeting, the ambassador of Guinea Bissau to China, the head of the Portuguese-speaking delegation attending the event, the head of the permanent secretariat of the China Portugal Forum (Macao), the relevant officials of Portuguese-speaking countries, representatives of agricultural enterprises, the heads of relevant agricultural parks and enterprises in the province, and the representatives of relevant scientific research institutions also made communication speeches.
