Recently, the inland waterway booking system, a core functional module of the sea-river combined transportation platform of Lianyungang Port Group, was successfully launched. After two days of real-world business operation tests, the system has demonstrated stable performance and smooth order processing. This marks a solid and crucial step forward for Lianyungang Port in its journey to build an integrated smart logistics system.
As an integrated digital platform that combines maritime and inland waterway transportation resources, the sea-river combined transportation platform aims to enhance overall efficiency through unified scheduling, data interoperability, and standardized processes. As the first functional module to be implemented, the inland waterway booking system has enabled fully digital operations throughout the entire process, from voyage schedule inquiry and demand submission to online booking and space ation. During the system’s operational period, the platform successfully completed full-process operations for multiple orders. From cargo owners placing orders and space allocation to shipping companies accepting and ing orders, each link was efficiently connected. The system’s timely response speed and accurate data synchronization capabilities have fully verified its stability and practicality.
The successful launch of this system has built a digital bridge between cargo owners and shipping companies. It provides cargo owners with a more transparent and convenient booking experience, allowing them to query key information such as the latest voyage schedules in real time through the system, significantly saving time costs. At the same time, it also offers shipping companies a more stable channel for cargo source organization, significantly improving business connection efficiency. This operational model of data interoperability and standardized processes lays a solid foundation for the subsequent integration of more value-added functions, such as “one-price for sea-river combined transportation” and vessel dynamic tracking.
“This is a crucial step forward for Lianyungang Port in its smart logistics construction. The platform will subsequently focus on extending from ‘inland waterways’ to ‘sea-river combined transportation’, integrating port maritime resources, creating a one-stop service (closed loop) for ‘sea-river combined transportation’, and facilitating smooth logistics channels connecting rivers and seas,” said Shui, Deputy General Manager of Jiangsu Lanbao Xingqiu Technology Co., Ltd. Positioned as a major coastal port in China and a hub at the intersection of the “Belt and Road” sea and land routes, the port group, with its full-process logistics service platform as the core carrier, has paved the way for the comprehensive deepening of smart logistics through the successful implementation of this inland waterway booking function.
It is reported that next, the platform will also explore expansion into rail transportation, gradually building a comprehensive multimodal transportation service system that includes “sea-rail combined transportation”, thereby assisting the port in achieving digital upgrading and high-quality development.
