The south-northern longitudinal line of the expressway passes through our city Lianyungang, and the west-eastern horizontal line is the starting point of Lianhuo. Three ordinary national highways starting from our city are an important part of the west-eastern horizontal line... The recently released National Highway Network Plan (hereinafter referred to as the Plan) further highlights the important position of our city in the national three-dimensional transportation network.

The national highway network is an important part of the foundation and main framework of the national comprehensive three-dimensional transportation network. According to the Plan, by 2035, the total scale of the national highway network will be about 461000 kilometers. The overall coverage of the national expressway network will be further extended to cities and counties with a population of more than 100000 in the urban area, and the county-level administrative centers of these cities and counties can access the national expressway in 30 minutes.

On the layout diagram of the national highway network, many capital radiation lines, south-northern vertical lines, west-eastern horizontal lines, as well as regional ring roads, metropolitan ring roads, urban ring roads, parallel lines, connecting lines, etc. are constructed. The journalist found that in the national expressway network, Shenyang-Haikou and Changchun-Shenzhen in the south-northern longitudinal line all pass through our city. Lianyungang-Horgos on the west-eastern horizontal line is already the main highway of our city.

In the ordinary national highway network, Lianyungang-Gonghe, Lianyungang-Luanchuan, Lianyungang-Guyuan and other national highways in the west-eastern horizontal line are listed.

According to the Plan, during the 14th Five Year Plan period, China will orderly promote the construction of national highways that play an important role in strengthening international, regional, provincial and intercity links, give priority to the main line and the sections to be connected between provinces and realize the basic connection of the main line of the national highway "71118" (7 capital radiation lines, 11 south-northern longitudinal lines, 18 west-eastern horizontal lines). We will promote the expansion and reconstruction of congested sections of national highways such as Beijing-Shanghai, Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao, Changsha-Shenzhen, Shanghai-Kunming and Lianyungang-Huozhou and improve the capacity of major highway channels. It means that the reconstruction and expansion of Changsha- Shenzhen Expressway, Lianyungang-Huozhou Expressway and other expressways involving our city will be further accelerated.

In addition, the Plan also proposes that the concepts of ecological protection, green and low-carbon development should be run through the whole process and links of highway planning, design, construction, operation, management and maintenance to reduce resource and energy consumption and carbon emissions in the whole life cycle. We should legally avoid all kinds of ecological protection areas, environmentally sensitive areas and areas rich in historical and cultural resources in urban and rural areas, pay attention to ecological protection and restoration, resource recycling, carbon emission reduction, strengthen the prevention and control of air, water and noise pollution and build green roads based on local conditions.

And in this regard, the relevant person in charge of the Municipal Transportation Bureau believes that many main skeleton networks in the Plan meet in our city, highlighting the status of a transportation hub, which gives our city a greater function of connecting the east and the west, connecting the north and the south and providing strong support for promoting regional development, east-west integration, and north-south interaction. The release of the Plan will bring more opportunities for the development of highways in Jiangsu and even our city. We will build a rapid transportation network in the vanguard of a strong transportation province and strive to a new chapter in the construction of a modern transportation demonstration area.
