High Speed Railway from Lianyungang to Nanjing Expected to Open in Late November

On April 17, the monorail laying on the main bridge deck of Wufeng Mountain Yangtze River Bridge was officially completed; on April 22, the double track of Lianzhen line of Wufeng Mountain Yangtze River Bridge was officially opened. As an important control project of Huai'an -Zhenjiang section of Lianyungang-Zhenjiang railway, reports of new victories on Wufeng Mountain Yangtze River Bridge keep pouring in. Recently, it was learned from the railway department that before the end of November, the Huai'an-Zhenjiang section of Lianyungang-Zhenjiang railway was ready for operation. At that time, the first high-speed railway will be opened from Nanjing to Lianyungang, which will provide high-speed rail access to 12 other cities from Nanjing in the province.
Lianyungang-Zhenjiang railway is led out from Lianyungang Station, passes through the existing Dongji Station of Qingyan railway, meets with Xuyan high-speed railway in the south at Huai'an, crosses the Yangtze River and ends at Zhenjiang after passing through Gaoyou, Yangzhou and other places, with a total length of about 304.88 km and a design speed of 250 km/h. Among them, Lianyungang-Huaian section of Lianyungang-Zhenjiang railway has been put into operation on December 16, 2019. The Huai'an-Zhenjiang section of Lianyungang-Zhenjiang railway starts from Huai'an East Station, passes through Gaoyou City, Yangzhou City and reaches Zhenjiang Station. The total length of the main line is 187 km. There are 11 stations including Baoying, Jieshou Town, Gaoyou, Yangzhou South, Dagang, Tai'an Town, Jiangdu, Dantu, Zhenjiang and etc.
At present, there are three trains from Lianyungang to Nanjing every day, including one high-speed train with sleeping compartment and two K-head trains. The shortest travel time is 5 hours and 25 minutes. After the whole Lianyungang-Zhenjiang railway is opened to traffic, high-speed railway from Lianyungang to Nanjing will open for the first time, and the travel time will be shortened to about 2 hours. At that time, as the capital city of the province, Nanjing will open high-speed railways to 12 other cities in the province. This is not only convenient for citizens in Lianyungang to travel, but also plays an important role in improving the railway network in Northern Jiangsu and strengthening the communication within the province.
