Over 50,000 Entry-Exit Passengers Pass through Lianyungang Port in First Three Quarters of This Year

With the implementation of South Korea’s new visa-free policy for China, Lianyungang Seaport Passenger Terminal has witnessed a minor peak in entry-exit passenger traffic. Yesterday, 530 passengers boarded the Sino-Korean passenger and cargo liner “Harmony Yungang” bound for Incheon Port in South Korea. According to statistics from the Lianyungang Exit-Entry Border Inspection Station, in the first three quarters of this year, the station has inspected over 50,000 entry-exit passengers on the Sino-Korean route.

Statistics show that among the entry-exit personnel at Lianyungang Seaport Passenger Terminal in the first three quarters of this year, silver-haired travel, family travel, and group travel were the main components. Those aged 60 and above accounted for over 70% of the total. The number of group passengers reached more than 25,000, accounting for half of the total entry-exit passengers. Among them, 1,500-plus foreign passengers were inspected, representing a year-on-year increase of 5.1%. With the continuous optimization of China’s unilateral visa-free entry policy for South Korea and South Korea’s trial implementation of a visa-free entry policy for Chinese group tourists from September 29 this year until June 30 next year, groups of three or more people can enter mainland South Korea visa-free and stay for up to 15 days (Jeju Island remains the same as before, with both individual and group tourists eligible for visa-free entry and a stay of up to 30 days). As a result, the number of entry-exit passengers at Lianyungang Seaport Passenger Terminal has continued to increase.

To enhance the entry-exit experience for passengers and ensure efficient passage through customs for them, the Lianyungang Exit-Entry Border Inspection Station has proactively coordinated with Sino-Korean Ferry Company and travel agencies. They have introduced a shared email account to stay informed of entry-exit passengers’ itinerary dynamics in advance and provide pre-inspection and pre-registration services to improve passenger clearance efficiency. Multilingual service counters have been set up to offer “one-stop” services such as policy consultation and customs clearance guidance for foreign passengers. Dedicated channels have been opened at the customs clearance site, and hierarchical and separate processing inspection measures have been implemented. An innovative “passenger-vehicle separation” plan has been introduced, creating a dual-circulation model for container operations and passenger passage. These efforts aim to minimize the time required for handling entry-exit procedures for ships and passengers, ensuring a more convenient and smooth cross-border journey for entry-exit passengers.
