Lianyungang Post and Huaguoshan Airport Deepen Partnership to Unlock “Air-Ground” Logistics Corridor, Boosting Hub Growth

On the afternoon of May 29, inside the cargo zone of Lianyungang Huaguoshan International Airport, a batch of EMS-labeled mail cleared expedited security screening via a green channel and was then given priority cabin allocation, awaiting a flight to Guangzhou. Since the air transport partnership launched in February 2025, such mail dispatch operations have been running smoothly. Previously, cooperation between Lianyungang Post and Huaguoshan Airport focused mainly on air mail transport. Recently, the city’s Post Branch and Huaguoshan International Airport further deepened their collaboration, extending the scope to ground logistics connectivity and Party building co-development, aiming to build a new development model of “shared resources and complementary strengths”.
For this Belt and Road junction city, logistics efficiency is competitiveness. Huaguoshan Airport, as a regional air hub, offers professional air transport and efficient ground support capabilities. Lianyungang Post, meanwhile, brings the integrated advantages of “four flows in one” — commercial, logistics, capital, and information — along with a comprehensive network covering both urban and rural areas. The core of this deepened cooperation lies in clearing the bottleneck between “the last hundred meters in the air” and “the first kilometer on the ground”.
The most immediate change is visible in air cargo operations. Huaguoshan Airport has been designated as the preferred port for Lianyungang Post’s air freight exports, offering priority cabin allocation, expedited security screening, and green channel services. This means locally produced specialty agricultural products, e-commerce parcels, and international mail from the city can enter the air network with shorter cut-off times and faster outbound processing. Industry insiders have calculated that the combination of priority cabin allocation and green channel access saves an average of 5 to 8 hours of ground waiting time per shipment — a value that speaks for itself, especially for fresh cold-chain goods and time-sensitive mail.
The goal of this partnership goes far beyond “making planes faster”. Both sides are committed to unlocking the full “air + ground” chain. Specifically, the airport provides Post with on-site cargo handover, temporary warehousing, and ground drayage support, while Post leverages its logistics network to handle sorting, distribution, and extended delivery of inbound airport cargo. This two-way integration means that mail unloaded from aircraft can be routed through Post’s network to every corner of the city and countryside in the shortest possible time, and conversely, Post-collected cargo can be swiftly handed over at the airport — achieving truly seamless connectivity.
Looking ahead, as the “air-ground integrated” model takes shape, the city’s mail and cargo will gain greater “acceleration” on the airport runway. “Our deep cooperation with Huaguoshan Airport not only enhances the airport’s function as a Belt and Road air node and strengthens cargo consolidation capacity, but also leverages air transport to meaningfully expand the time-efficiency radius and coverage of Post services,” said Fu from the Lianyungang Post Branch.
