Special Sino-European Trains Operated with High Quality in Our City

Recently, nearly 50 domestic experts and 60 foreign experts from Belarus, Germany, Mongolia, Poland, Kazakhstan, Russia, Austria and Latvia visited Lianyungang Container Terminal, Port Production and Dispatch Command Center on the spot. They inspected the operation of land-sea intermodal transport, China-Europe trains and so on. They expressed their appreciation for the high-quality construction of the Sino-European trains.
On December 1, 1992, a long whistle pierced the sky and the international container train from Lianyungang to Almaty, Moscow, St. Petersburg and other places started operation, formally opening up the prelude of the new Eurasian Continental Bridge international intermodal transport. The "one belt and one road" initiative has injected new connotation and impetus to the operation of Sino-European trains.
In recent years, our city has opened up two high-quality routes to Almaty and Istanbul, and other Central Asian and European train routes, taking the lead in transit and export trains and achieving full coverage of major stations, becoming the only shipping port designated by COSCO to operate in the direction of Central Asia and Turkey. With the Joint effort of China Railway Collection and Sino-foreign Transport, the "Japan-China-Europe" corridor from Japan to Europe was also opened up. From 2013 to 2018, a total of 439.1 million standard boxes were completed. In 2018, the number of Sino-European trains of Lianyungang reached a breakthrough of 800 for the first time, and Lianyungang Port became the only port with special trains of wheat, cotton yarn and ferroalloy along the coast of China. The service quality was highly praised by customers.
Since the beginning of this year, the port has been guided by the spirit of the "one belt and one road" initiative benchmark and demonstration project and persisted in building special Sino-European trains with high quality. The number of trains has increased from 41 to 45. The full load rate and heavy container rate have reached 100%, accelerating the shift from scale expansion to efficiency and quality. At the same time, we continue to expand the scale of eastward return flights. At present, the ratio of East-West two-way transport is close to 1:1, and the convective transport tends to be balanced.
With the strengthening of cooperation with major node cities such as Almaty and Aktao, as well as ports, railways and parks, Lianyungang-Kazakhstan-Turkey Railway-Air Intermodal Transport System has been put into operation, and the multi-modal terminal management system of Waterless Port of Horgos-Dongdaemun has been put into use. The cooperation of port, shipping and trade has continued to deepen. The function and level of intermodal transport are expected to be further improved.
