Our city will build a national comprehensive transport hub in 2035

Lianyungang　comprehensivetransportation　system　development　strategy　and　planning　consultation　dockingforum　was　held　yesterday.　The　provincial　transportation　department　and　thecity's　leading　officials　launched　a　heated　discussion　on　"Lianyungang　ComprehensiveTransportation　System　Development　Strategy　and　Planning　(to　2035)".　At　themeeting,　it　was　determined　that　by　2035,　our　city　will　build　a　moderncomprehensive　transportation　system　with　the　goal　of　"facing　the　world,connecting　the　east　with　the　west,　radiating　the　north　and　the　south,　and　beingconvenient　and　efficient".　From　this　year　to　2022,　our　city　will　build　60key　transportation　projects,　such　as　ports,　logistics　bases,　new　airports,trunk　highways,　railways　and　waterways,　with　a　total　investment　of　about　99.8billion　yuan.

Our　city　has　a　unique　geographicaladvantage.　It　is　not　only　an　east-west　two-way　gateway　for　opening　up,　but　alsothe　intersection　point　of　the　national　transport　corridor.　The　transportationbase　of　sea　transportation,　railway,　civil　aviation,　highway,　waterway,　hub　andstation　is　fairly　good.　In　view　of　the　expectations　of　the　state　and　provincialgovernments　on　the　city,　the　central　planning　office　of　the　ProvincialDepartment　of　Transport　has　drafted　a　mid-long　term　transportation　planentitled　Building　a　Strategic　Pivot　forLianyungang's　"One　Belt　and　One　Road"　Strategy　to　Fully　Enhance　the　Functionof　the　National　Comprehensive　Transport　Hub.

The　plan　clearly　states　that　by　2035,our　city　will　build　a　modern　comprehensive　transportation　system　of　"facingthe　international　circumstance,　connecting　the　east　with　the　west,　radiatingnorth　and　south,　being　convenient　and　efficient".

By　then,　the　national　comprehensivetransport　hub　will　be　fully　built,　and　the　new　international　hub　for　New　Eurasianland　and　sea　transportation　will　be　fully　upgraded.　The　comprehensivetransportation　system　supporting　the　coordinated　development　of　the　port　andcity　will　be　further　improved,　forming　a　new　pattern　of　"big　port,　largecorridor,　vast　network　and　max　logistics".　And　we　must　effectively　supportLianyungang's　"One　Belt　and　One　Road"　strategic　fulcrum　constructionin　order　to　realize　"high　quality　development”　and　make　sure　that　“newcomers　come　to　thefore”.

"The　meaning　of　the　nationalcomprehensive　transport　hub　consists　of　three　aspects:　the　new　Eurasiancontinental　and　maritime　intermodal　international　hub,　the　regional　airport　huband　the　national　railway　transport　hub.　At　the　meeting,　officials　in　charge　ofthe　Provincial　Department　introduced　that　specifically,　17　years　later,　thecity　will　build　a　regional　traffic　circle　of　0.5　hour’s　bus　ride　(to　Guannan,East　China　Sea　and　downtown　of　Ganyu),　a　provincial　traffic　circle　(to　alldistricts　and　cities　in　the　province)　by　1.5　hours　and　a　regional　trafficcircle　(to　the　Yangtze　River　Delta　and　important　cities　in　Shandong　Peninsula)in　2.5　hours.　The　proportion　of　multi-modal　transport　such　as　highway,　railway,water　route,　river　and　sea　has　increased　obviously,　and　the　effect　of　reducingcost　and　increasing　efficiency　has　become　more　prominent.　The　ratio　of　thetotal　cost　of　social　logistics　to　GDP　has　dropped　to　less　than　11%.

In　terms　of　specific　projects,　theprovincial　traffic　department　has　put　forward　some　suggestions,　such　as　new　high-speedrailways,　coastal　high-speed　railways,　the　new　airport　expansion　for　4E　grade,urban　expressway　construction,　public　transport　and　so　on.　Relevant　experts　saythat　the　city　will　play　the　advantage　of　new　Eurasian　land　and　sea　intermodaltransportation,　accelerate　the　construction　of　major　projects　such　as　the　secondphase　of　the　300　thousand　tonnage　waterway,　wharf　and　international　logisticsbase,　and　speed　up　the　development　of　Sino-EU　trains,　container　routes　and　searail　intermodal　transport,　so　as　to　lay　the　foundation　for　the　benchmarking　anddemonstration　projects　of　the　"One　Belt　and　One　Road"　cooperation　initiative.At　the　same　time,　it　is　planned　that　new　projects　such　as　coastal　high-speedrailway,　Liansu　high-speed　railway　and　Sulian　waterway　will　be　included　in　thecity's　general　layout　to　strengthen　the　study　of　landing　plans,　give　full　playto　the　existing　comprehensive　transport　network　functions,　strengthenmanagement　and　enhance　transport　efficiency.
