On September 22, the world’s largest car carrier, “Anji Maosheng”, successfully made its maiden call at Lianyungang Port. After efficiently loading over 1,400 vehicles, it set sail for Europe, adding new strength to the global journey of “Made in China”.

It is said that the “Anji Maosheng” vessel is the latest 9,500 CEU (car equivalent unit) methanol-fuel-ready PCTC (Pure Car and Truck Carrier), independently designed by the Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI) of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) and built by Jiangnan Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. for Anji Shipping Co., Ltd.

To ensure the safe and efficient berthing, loading, and departure of “Anji Maosheng”, Lianyungang Port’s Dongfang Company provided comprehensive support for this operation. The cargo included 1,263 new energy vehicles. In response to the specific requirements of NEV transport, the port, along with border inspection, maritime safety, and other port authorities, jointly opened a green channel to ensure the ship’s efficient clearance. Relying on a digital platform to monitor cargo status in real-time, the port scientifically planned vehicle storage areas and transport routes, precisely allocating resources to minimize non-operational time. Through meticulous organization, the loading task was completed in the shortest possible time, maximizing the reduction of the ship’s port stay.

As a significant national hub for commercial vehicle logistics and a key ro-ro port for vehicles in East China, Lianyungang Port has continuously increased its ro-ro route network, enhanced intelligent terminal management, and actively worked to build a regional import and export distribution center for ro-ro and break-bulk cargo. From January to August this year, NEV exports through Lianyungang Port exceeded 34,500 units, a year-on-year increase of 78.76%, setting a new record for export volume.
