A few days ago, "Jinquan" ship with a full load of 4800 tons of corn docked at the berth 32 of Lianyungang Port. This batch of corn came from the Far East region of Russia and was unloaded in two days. Then it was transported to Jiangsu Ruilinde Biotechnology Co., Ltd. located at the comprehensive protection zone. Although the import volume is small, it is of great significance. This is the first time that a Russian bulk corn import ship docked at Lianyungang Port, marking the substantial progress of the city's grain import business in the Sino-Russian Far East development cooperation, breaking the path dependence of corn import which has been dominated by the American market.
Corn is one of the important sources of feed materials in China. With the increase of domestic demand for corn, the supply and demand of corn are gradually tight. In recent years, the amount of corn imported from Lianyungang Port has remained high. From the perspective of food security, based on domestic supply and demand, relevant enterprises in our city further expand import channels and calmly respond to the changes in the supply and demand environment of the future corn market.
"We have been importing corn from North America and South America, and the price has risen sharply in the past two years. From the perspective of comprehensive cost, it is very meaningful to explore new sources of corn import. So we took the opportunity of Sino-Russian Far East development and cooperation to contact suppliers in the Russian Far East. The price of corn is 30% lower than that of the Americas, which is a successful attempt.” according to Jiangsu Ruilinde Biological Co., Ltd. The smooth arrival of this batch of goods has opened the channel for the comprehensive protection zone to import grain raw materials from Russia.
It is reported that in order to support the development of local enterprises and ensure the corn import service, the Port Holding Group, in conjunction with the port units, actively connects with customers and provides support through various policies. Since the cooperation is still in the planning stage, Dongliang Company at the Port has repeatedly visited customers and provided technical and personnel support in project construction and business cooperation, which has been praised by customers. Before the berthing of "Jinquan" ship, Dongliang Company specially held three pre-ship meetings to study and deploy the production efficiency, freight quality and environmental protection control of the ship. They made priority and overall arrangement for the production organization.
Lianyungang is one of the first designated ports for imported grain in China, and its geographical advantages and branded grain transportation services have been recognized by the state. During the "Fourteenth Five-Year Plan" period, Lianyungang Port listed the construction of an international grain distribution center as one of its development goals. In terms of supporting software and hardware infrastructure, the country's first intelligent automatic bulk grain loading system has been developed and put into use, realizing the fully intelligent closed-loop operation of bulk grain loading and unloading from the gantry crane to the bulk grain system line and then to the loading. At the end of last year, the first phase of Lianyungang International Grain Distribution Center, with a total investment of 836 million yuan, was started. A silo with a capacity of about 300000 tons will be built in Miaoling operation area, and the process system of berths 32 and 33 will be optimized and upgraded. The designed annual turnover of the two berths is 5.8 million tons.
In the next step, Lianyungang Port will continue to expand the scope of cooperation in grain import business, unblock the two-way channels for grain in and out of important warehouses in countries and regions along the “Belt and Road” and provinces or cities along Longhai-Lanxin Line. A diversified land-sea intermodal grain corridor of the New Eurasian Continental Bridge will be build.
