Gaogong Island National First-Class Fishing Port Renovation Project Passes Inspection

After comprehensively inspecting the site, listening to reports from the participating construction units, and examining the internal documentation of each construction phase, the inspection expert group and fisheries authorities at the provincial, municipal, and district levels unanimously agreed that the Gaogong Island First-Class Fishing Port upgrade and renovation, as well as the rectification and maintenance project, had passed inspection. It is reported that this upgrade, renovation, and maintenance have laid a solid foundation for Gaogong Island First-Class Fishing Port to promote the transformation of traditional fisheries to high-quality and efficient operations.
It is reported that Gaogong Island National First-Class Fishing Port is located in Gaogong Island Street, Lianyun District, on the south side of Yangshan Island. The main project was successfully completed at the end of 2015. Upon completion, the total length of the fishing port's dock and breakwater reached 490 meters, with an effective wind-sheltered water area of 324,000 square meters within the port, significantly improving the safety and wind-shelter conditions of the fishing port and providing practical and reliable material support for fishing boats seeking shelter.
In order to effectively improve the service functions and production order of the fishing port and further ensure the safe production of fishermen, Lianyun District initiated the fishing port upgrade, renovation, and maintenance project. It is reported that the total investment in the project was RMB 22.5499 million. The construction content mainly included raising and reinforcing the wave wall of the old breakwater by 225 meters, renovating 5,355 square meters of dock surface, dredging 383,000 cubic meters of harbor basin, channel, and anchorage area, paving over 6,000 square meters of road leading to the port, constructing a comprehensive fishing port management center, and completing the construction of the fishing port gate, as well as landscaping, fire protection, monitoring, and other supporting facilities.
"The completed Gaogong Island National First-Class Fishing Port has a land area of 220,000 square meters, a water area of 324,000 square meters, an annual unloading capacity of 40,000 tons, and can accommodate nearly one thousand fishing boats, effectively promoting the high-quality development of the fisheries economy," said the relevant person in charge of Gaogong Island Street. In the next step, Gaogong Island Street will continue to adhere to the principles of ecological priority and land-sea coordination, promote the continuous improvement of fishing port facilities and the upgrading of overall functions, and comprehensively build a modern fishing port integrating coastal sightseeing, tourism integrated services, and fisheries production and trade, contributing to the transformation, upgrading, quality and efficiency improvement, and green development of the fisheries industry.
