Local "Specialty" of Lianyungang Boards "Xuelong 2" for Antarctica Expedition, Bringing Warmth to Scientific Researchers in Snowy Weather

Yesterday, it was learned from Micoe, a subsidiary of Lianyungang-based Solar East, that the 41st Chinese Antarctic Expedition Team, organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources, embarked on a nearly seven-month scientific expedition on November 1st. The original integrated heating and cooling system powered by air source heat pumps, provided by Micoe, also embarked on the polar expedition with "Xuelong 2". Xu Guodong, Vice President of Micoe Group, introduced that air source heat pumps have a natural fit with polar scientific expeditions: on the one hand, both parties are in sync in pursuing green development; on the other hand, both the North and South Poles are extremely cold regions with harsh living conditions. The company's air source heat pumps can be efficiently used in such extremely cold and harsh conditions in Antarctica to provide a very warm and comfortable environment for scientific researchers.

It is understood that 2024 marks the 40th anniversary of China's polar scientific expeditions. This expedition mission continues to be supported by three vessels. "Xuelong" and "Xuelong 2" departed from Guangzhou, mainly to carry out scientific research, personnel transportation, and logistical support tasks. "Yongsheng" cargo ship departed from Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu Province, mainly to carry materials for the construction of supporting facilities at Qinling Station. It can be said that polar expeditions rely on the strong support of the country's comprehensive economic strength and are also the "national confidence" forged by "major national equipment". As an air source heat pump brand successfully applied in Antarctica, Micoe's air source heat pumps embarked on "Xuelong" scientific research vessel in November 2022 and accompanied the 39th Chinese Scientific Expedition Team to land in Antarctica, providing heating for the greenhouse glasshouse at Great Wall Station. This marked the first application of air source heat pump products in Antarctica, and the polar expedition fully tested the reliability of products from Lianyungang’s enterprises.

Compared to China's Great Wall Station in Antarctica, which is located on the fringes and at lower latitude, the task faced by the products of Lianyungang’s enterprises at Zhongshan Station is not light. Zhongshan Station is located along the coastal belt of the Antarctic continent, with prominent Antarctic polar climate characteristics, and has harsher conditions and lower temperatures than Great Wall Station, posing new challenges for heating equipment. How can heating equipment overcome the extremely cold environment in Antarctica and adapt to the natural harsh conditions unique to Antarctica, such as 0-degree angle blizzards, shifting sandstorms, high salt content in the air, and high humidity?

Zhang Lifeng, Dean of the Product Technology Research Institute at Micoe Group, introduced that the Micoe air-source heat pump deployed at the Zhongshan Station in Antarctica is equipped with an originally integrated system, which includes an air-source original host with the dual-core DD-HOT (Double Driver Hot system, or "Enhanced Heat Loop" system) and DHC core technology, as well as a complete set of products and components such as the originally integrated EasyLink, piping system, etc. All of these are designed and provided in accordance with the factory's original integration standards. Upon arrival at the Zhongshan Station, they can be quickly installed and put into use within 2 hours, ensuring the long-term, safe, and reliable operation of the Micoe air-source heating system in the harsh environment of the Zhongshan Station in Antarctica.

When operating in Antarctica, the host leverages Micoe's air-source "DD-HOT Enhanced Heat Loop" system, employing gas-liquid dual-spray technology, three-valve coordinated control technology, and solid-variable coupling enhanced flow defrosting technology to achieve stable heating at -36°C, precise and rapid defrosting. What's more amazing is that it can achieve "zero" fluctuation in room temperature, with an energy-saving effect of up to 67.7%. The supporting accessories use corrosion-resistant pipes and connectors with excellent sealing performance, ensuring that the entire system will not leak or be damaged in harsh environments.
