"The 200000th vehicle exported from Lianyungang Port will start loading in 2022!" At 10:18 on November 26, with the order of Yang Long, chairman of the Port Holding Group, export vehicles with red silk were orderly driven onto the "Fennong" Ro/Ro ship. With the 200000th vehicle slowly entering the cabin through the arch, Lianyungang Port's annual vehicle export record was again refreshed, marking a new step in the construction of the port's regional Ro/Ro general cargo import and export distribution center.

In recent years, with the strong support of Lianyungang maritime, customs, border inspection, pilotage and other port units, the roll on/roll off business of Lianyungang Port has ushered in a period of rapid development. The efficiency of port ships' customs clearance and berthing has been further improved, and the competitiveness of roll on/roll off main cargo sources has been enhanced, creating a good business environment for the development of the port. From 10000 in 2017 to 150000 in 2021 and then to 200000 today, Lianyungang's vehicle export has experienced a "blowout" growth for five consecutive years, ranking among China's three major ports for machinery and equipment and vehicle export.

According to the Deputy General Manager of Dongfang Port Branch, since this year, the company has seized the opportunity to build a regional Ro/Ro general cargo import and export distribution center, deepened the construction of special classes for Ro/Ro general cargo market development and further increased the grid development and precision marketing of routes and cargo markets based on the land-sea intermodal transport channel network to achieve new breakthroughs in Ro/Ro business. From January to October, 174500 vehicles were exported, with a year-on-year growth of 30.22%, breaking the annual record of last year and hitting a record high in the same period for 10 consecutive months. In this year, Taicang-Lianyungang domestic trade routes were newly opened, and three foreign trade routes: Lianyungang-Vladivostok, Indonesia and Chile were successfully encrypted. The total number of Ro/Ro shipping routes has reached 16, covering Asia, Europe, Africa and South America.

It is reported that, to overcome the influence of epidemic and other factors, the port has successfully won over many shipping companies such as Rvc, Grunsott, Qiyin and high-end brand car enterprises such as Chery and Volvo by virtue of its high-quality service, complete and efficient process system, further expanding the market map of roll on/roll off business. At present, the project of automobile green intelligent logistics center and the construction of 85000 square meters of warehouse space are being actively promoted, which will further improve the port storage capacity.
