Lianyungang Petrochemical Industry Base Launched Global Challenge of Environmental Governance and Innovation

Yesterday morning, Lianyungang Petrochemical Industry Base officially launched the Global Challenge of Environmental Governance and Innovation.

Xuwei New Area is a pilot zone of the demonstration area of East/Middle/West/Inter-Regional Cooperation and one of the seven major petrochemical industry bases in China. Since the start of development and construction in 2009, after 14 years of hard work and struggle, a total investment of over 276 billion yuan has been completed, with infrastructure investment of over 76 billion yuan. The layout of the leading industry near the harbor has been basically completed, and the level of infrastructure support is leading in the country. Three major petrochemical industry clusters, represented by Shenghong Petrochemical, Satellite Chemistry and China Chemical Recycling Industrial Park, have been formed. In 2022, Lianyungang Petrochemical Industry Base ranked 18th out of 643 key chemical parks in China. At the same time, Xuwei New Area attaches great importance to ecological environmental protection and has built an ecological environment quality control center with high standards to achieve continuous improvement of regional atmospheric and water environment quality. It has been awarded titles such as "National Ecological Industry Demonstration Park" and "National Green Chemical Park".

In order to advance innovation in environmental governance of China's petrochemical industry bases and promote high-quality development of the petrochemical industry, with the concern and support of units such as the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, China Petroleum and Chemical Federation, China Chemical Environmental Protection Association, and Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment, our city holds this challenge competition to jointly discuss innovative technologies and solutions for environmental governance of petrochemical bases. Experts and scholars from all over the country will speak freely and brainstorm to provide insights and contribute to the transformation and upgrading of petrochemical bases and green development.
