Yesterday, the author learned from the Hurun Research Institute that in the 2024 Hurun China New Energy Industry Concentration City Ranking, Lianyungang was ranked fifth among the top ten cities with the highest concentration of new energy investment.

It is known that the research scope of this ranking covers domestic provincial cities, sub-provincial cities, and municipalities. Researchers collected and scored information on the concentration of high-quality new energy enterprises, the concentration of small and medium-sized new energy enterprises, the concentration of new energy investment enthusiasm, and the concentration of high-end new energy talents in each city. Finally, they conducted a comprehensive summary and ranking.

The development of cities cannot be separated from the strong driving force of the new energy industry. It is not only a catalyst for economic transformation and sustainable development but also an important indicator for measuring a city's innovation capacity, talent, and industrial attractiveness. In recent years, our city has vigorously promoted the development of nuclear, hydrogen, solar, wind, and energy storage, accelerated the construction of new energy infrastructure networks, and focused on building a clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient modern energy system.

To accelerate the development of the new energy industry, the key is to enhance the concentration of high-quality enterprises, small and medium-sized enterprises, new energy investment enthusiasm, and high-end talents. In recent years, various regions in our city have accelerated the agglomeration of high-quality new energy enterprises. A series of investment projects with new economic characteristics have gathered in Lianyungang, pushing up the investment enthusiasm for the new energy industry in Lianyungang. The diversified industrial system, including wind, solar, storage, and nuclear power, has facilitated the agglomeration of a group of high-end talents. At the same time, the vast offshore resources also provide abundant resources for our city to develop offshore photovoltaic application scenarios.

The installed capacity of grid-connected photovoltaic projects under the province's market-oriented program ranks first in the province. Since the beginning of this year, more than 2 million kilowatts of onshore centralized photovoltaic projects, such as those of SPIC Jiangsu Dongxin Farm, Huadian Ganyu Dunshang, Three Gorges Qingkou, Ganyu Dongci, and Guoxin Yuntai, have successively commenced construction. The largest offshore photovoltaic project in the country, the 2 million kilowatt tidal flat photovoltaic demonstration project of CNNC Tianwan, has smoothly commenced its offshore construction and is accelerating its progress. Data shows that from January to August of this year, the newly installed capacity of renewable energy in our city reached 1.2843 million kilowatts, representing a 43% increase year-on-year and achieving the annual target for new installed capacity of renewable energy ahead of schedule. This marks the continuous acceleration of energy transformation efforts in Lianyungang and signifies a new step forward in the construction of a new power system.

The development of a new type of power grid is being promoted in an orderly manner. Based on the actual situation, our city is building typical demonstration projects and promoting the construction of three pilot new power system parks in Banqiao Industrial Park in Lianyun District, Lingang Industrial Zone in Guanyun County, and Xuwei New Area. The grid connection of energy storage for supply security was completed. On January 30th of this year, the Ganyu Dunshang 10MW/20MWh new independent energy storage power station became the first independently operated new energy storage power station in our city and also the first energy storage power station in the Huadian Jiangsu region. The CNNC Tianwan 200MW/400MWh energy storage project was selected as a pilot demonstration project for new energy storage by the National Energy Administration, fully leveraging the leading and driving role of demonstration projects to promote diversified and high-quality development of new energy storage.

The comprehensive utilization of nuclear energy is being steadily promoted. Since the beginning of this year, our city has accelerated the construction of the 7th and 8th nuclear power units, which are expected to be commissioned in 2026 and 2027, respectively. Upon completion, the total installed capacity will reach 9.14 million kilowatts, making it the largest nuclear power base in the world. The country's first industrial nuclear steam supply project has been completed, providing 4.8 million tons of industrial steam to the petrochemical base each year, reducing comprehensive energy consumption by about 460,000 tons and carbon dioxide emissions by 1.07 million tons annually.
