National and Provincial Large and Medium Highway Maintenance Project officially Launched

A few days ago, at the site of the maintenance and overhaul project of Donghai section of national highway 310, workers were carrying out the preparation work before the construction in a tense and orderly manner in the drizzle. As the construction machinery has begun to enter the site, marking the official start of the large and medium-scaled maintenance project of the provincial trunk highway in our city this year. The project is supposed to cost more than 170 million yuan, involving six large and medium-scaled maintenance projects, namely, the Donghai section of national highway 310, the Shuimanqiao section of Ganyu section of national highway 233, the Ganyu section of provincial highway 242, the Gangcheng Avenue section of national highway 310, the Guanyun section of Provincial Highway 324 and the Guannan section of provincial highway 326.

In the preliminary investigation, the Municipal Highway Department found that there were network cracks, longitudinal and transverse joints, ruts and other road diseases in varying degrees in the Donghai section of national highway 310, the Shuimanqiao section of national highway 233 and the Ganyu section of provincial highway 242. In order to actively create a "smooth, safe, comfortable and beautiful" highway traffic environment and improve the level of road conditions, the Municipal Highway Department decided to start the large and medium-scaled maintenance project of national and provincial trunk highways in our city.

The staff of the Municipal Highway Department told the journalist that the total length of the maintenance and overhaul project of the Donghai section of national highway 310 is 10 kilometers with a planned investment of 90 million yuan. It has begun in mid March, with a planned construction period of six months and is expected to be completed and opened to traffic by the end of September. The maintenance will focus on milling the asphalt surface course and water stable base course of the old road, repairing the destruction of the old road sub base course, paving 40 cm anti-crack embedded and extruded water stable macadam, paving the plant mixed hot recycled lower layer and modified upper layer and adopting anti-rutting technology at intersections to improve anti-rutting level of the road.
