Buddhist Cliff Sculptures of the Eastern Han Dynasty

Kongwang Mountain Scenic Area, located in the southwest of the city, is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction. The mountains in the scenic area are mainly composed of granite and gneiss, which have a history of 1.8 billion years. Kongwang Mountain contains rich historical and cultural connotations, including cup and plate stone carvings in the neolithic period of primitive society, epigraph by celebrity in the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, the largest round stone elephant statues of the Han Dynasty across China, and especially the Buddhist cliff sculptures of the Eastern Han Dynasty, which are nearly 300 years earlier than the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang. The main scenic spots include Dragon Cave Nunnery, Dragon Cave epigraph, stone elephant, steamed bread stones, relics of Donghai Temple and Donghai Temple Monument, stone toad, Piaoran Pavilion, Confucius' statue of looking at the sea, and cup and plate epigraph, Chenglu Plate and the ancient city ruins of Kongwang Mountain.
