Seaweed Seaweed is commonly known as cordula, also known as zicai or ziying in Chinese. Rich in nutrients, its protein content exceeds kelp, and it contains much more carotene and riboflavin. With a long history of seaweed farming, Lianyungang is known as the Capital of China's Seaweed. Locally produced seaweed has high quality, and its production and trading volume rank first in the country. As a National Geographic Indications Protection Product, seaweed from Lianyungang is sold to Japan, the United States, Canada and other countries.
