As one of China's 49 key tourism cities and one of Jiangsu's three major tourism resource-rich regions, it is recognized as a nationally outstanding tourism destination. The city is distinguished by its unique integration of mountains, sea, islands, and harbors, along with numerous scenic and historical sites, as well as three major ecosystems: marine. forest, and wetland. It is celebrated as the “City of Magic and Romance” and the “First Scenic Spot on the East Sea.” The city boasts 37 AAA-evel or above tourist attractions, 2 national-level key villages for rural tourism, 8 provincial-level key villages for rural tourism, and 3 provincial-level tourism vacation zones. Additionally, it offers 9 star-rated hotels and 152 travel agencies. In 2024, Lianyungang implemented 50 key cultural and tourism projects, distributed RMB 6.5 million in cultural and tourism consumption vouchers, and issued 220,000 annual travel passes. The city was designated as a national hub for the 15-day visa-free policy for cruise arrivals and the 240-hour visa-free transit policy. Lian lsland Scenic Area was certified as a National AAAAA Tourist Attraction, Tanggou Liquor Ecotourism Zone became a National AAAA Tourist Attraction, the Laoxinpu Style Block was approved as a National Nighttime Cultural and Tourism Consumption Cluster, Huaguoshan Scenic Area was selected as a National Civilized Tourism Demonstration Unit, and three hotels were awarded the Gold Leaf-level Green Tourism Hotel designation. Throughout the year, the city received 55,86 million domestic and intermational visitors, generating tourism revenue of RMB 71.5 billion.
