On December 9th, at Yueya Island Wetland Park in Lianyungang, thousands of wild cormorants arrived at the North Lake of Yueya Island, freely foraging and flying in the lake area, becoming a unique ecological attraction. The cormorants have chosen this place as a transit stop for their winter migration, and after a brief rest, these wild birds are expected to migrate southward in groups. It is understood that the large number of wild cormorants inhabiting here are protected animals under China's "Three Protections" policy, feeding mainly on various fish through diving and predation. In 2019, Yueya Island implemented comprehensive ecological environmental rectification measures, planting over 200 varieties of trees, shrubs, and aquatic plants across the island, creating an 870-mu water surface, and stocking more than 30 species of fish and shrimp. Since 2020, an increasing number of migratory birds have chosen this place as a transit stop for their winter migration.
