The Lianyungang section of Lian-Xu high-speed rail enters the box girder erection stage

A box girder with a total weight of 790 tons was positioned between piers 584 and 585 of Lianyungang Bridge on the Lianyungang-Xuzhou High-speed Railway after three hours of hard work on the morning of the 28th. This marks the beginning of the opening of the box girder of the Lianyungang section of Xuzhou high-speed rail.

On the morning of the same day, the author saw on the spot that a piece of box girder weighing 790 tons was slowly transported from the platform to the girder lifting area by 900 tons of tire girder lifting machine. Shortly afterwards, the construction personnel used two 450 tons gantry cranes to lift the box girder to the girder carrier on the pier, and then the girder carrier feeds the girder to the bridge erecting machine and the girder body is erected between the two piers by the bridge erecting machine. Through the joint efforts of more than 100 staff on the spot for three hours, the box girder was finally erected successfully.
The Station Front I project manager of China Tiesiju Civil Engineering Group said that the successful erection of the box girder marks the official transition of Lianyungang section of Lianyungang-Xuzhou High-speed Railway into the box girder erection stage. The work done in this section of beam erection stage amounts to 726 box girder holes and 108 T beam holes. It will be completed in November 2019, and then will be moved on to the ballastless track construction stage.
Lianyungang-Xuzhou high-speed railway is a part of the horizontal “land bridge passage”of the “eight vertical and eight horizontal high-speed railway network”in our country’s “Medium and Long-term Railway Network Planning”. It is the first railway project in Jiangsu Province during the “13th Five-Year Plan”and the first high-speed railway with a speed of 350 km/h mainly invested by Jiangsu Province.
Located in the north of Jiangsu Province, the Lianyungang-Xuzhou high-speed railway extends east to west from Lianyungang Railway Station to Xuzhou East Railway Station. It passes through Donghai County of Lianyungang, Xinyi City and Pizhou City of Xuzhou. The main line is about 180 km long and the designed speed is 350 km/h. The whole line consists of six stations: Lianyungang Station, Donghai County Station, Xinyi South Station, Pizhou East Station, Houmazhuang Station (joint station) and Xuzhou East Station.
The Lianyungang-Xuzhou high-speed railway connects the two main high-speed railway lines of Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway and coastal high-speed railway in eastern China. It also connects Qingdao-Lianyungang Railway, Lianyungang-Yancheng Railway, Lianyungang-Zhenjiang Railway and Xuzhou-Yancheng Railway under construction, running westward through Zhengzhou-Xuzhou high-speed railway. The Lianyungang-Xuzhou high-speed railway is a key section of the T-shaped high-speed railway network intersecting the coastal high-speed rail corridor and the new Eurasian Continental Bridge high-speed rail corridor. It is expected to be completed by 2020.
