"Saltwater-tolerant rice" of 20,000 mu promises rich crop in our city

On　September　24,　20000-mu　rice　planted　in　the　reclaimed　saltwater　field　of　Huangshatuo　Community,　Houzui　Street　in　Lianyungang　Development　Zone　grew　well　with　a　good　harvest　in　sight.　With　the　adjustment　of　industrial　structure,　Lianyungang　City　has　carried　out　the　project　of　saltwater　field　reclamation　and　conversion　to　agriculture-used　fields.　Through　soil　domestication　and　improvement,　rice　planting　on　the　saline　alkali　land　has　been　successful.　A　long　stretch　of　the　saltwater　field　in　the　old　days　is　now　turned　into　a　unique　"coastal　granary".
