As one of ten largest seaports in
China, Lianyungang port has built up navigation
relations with almost 1,000 ports in over 150 countries
and regions in the world. Up to now, Lianyungang port
has opened more than 10 international container lines
with over 160 voyages per month directly to most
countries and regions in the world. Cargoes can also be
forwarded by transit. By the end of Dec.2004,
Lianyungang port has had 28 productive berths among
which 5 are for vessels above 50 thousand tons, 2 are
for vessels above 70 thousand tons, 1 is for vessels
above 100 thousand tons, and 2 berths of the fifth age.
These 25 berths include special-purpose docks for coal,
container, wood, grain and hazardous cargoes. In 2004,
the port has an annual throughput capacity of 43.52
million tons and container transportation of above
500,000 crates. The depth of its main channel is 11.5
meters, which is deep enough for a vessel from 70
thousand to 100 thousand tons, which can sail at high
tide. The port has a stock capacity of 3 million tons at
one time. Moreover, a logistics park of 450,000 square
meters and a bonded warehouse of 100,000 square meters
are under construction. In addition, it possesses
self-managed railway organizing stations whose annual
organizing capacity is 30 million tons. All types of
pulling strap, loading and unloading equipments with
great sling capacity can meet work requirements of
special commodities and super large-sized cargoes.
Lianyungang Port handled products of 150
kinds of 30 types including coal, wood, steel
products, grain, ore, container and hazardous
chemical products etc. It is the largest port in
China to import alumina and export wheat and
veneer, the second largest port to export coke
and a solely non-claim port for coal export.
Middle and Long Term Plan of
Lianyungang Port
Lianyungang Port, focusing
on the strategic target to build up a hundred
million tons of large port and the modern
logistics center, plans to collect RMB 12
billion or so from all possible channels to
lengthen the coastal line by 500 meters and
increase the throughput capacity by 5 million
tons within the latest 10 years. Lianyungang has
been implementing the following projects:
150,000-ton deepwater fairway, container
terminal of MiaoLing phase 3, after sixth age
(designed throughput capacity is 2 million
containers) 200,000-ton ore terminal in Donggang
district as well as 300,000-ton crude oil
terminal. The port strives to form a functional
terminal setup with 100,000-ton berths as its
main part, 200,000-ton and 300,000-ton berths as
the pillar, and medium and small berths as base.
This kind of structure can establish and
consolidate the vital status of Lianyungang port
as one of the five largest coal export ports in
China, container hub port in north Jiangsu and
south Shandong, crude oil loading and unloading
port and one of the seven largest transit ports
for ore.
กก
By the year of 2008, the
throughput capacity of the port will have exceeded one
hundred million tons and containers reached 3 million
TEUs. The most competitive and attractive regional
international logistics center in North Jiangsu and
South Shandong and even along Longhai line will be
established.
