    Lianyungang is listed by the Central Government of China as one of the 45 main highway transportation hubs in China. The highway structure of " One Horizontal and One Vertical " makes Lianyungang as the joining point; one national highway is the Lian-Huo Highway (from Lianyungang to Huoerguosi in Xinjiang autonomous region) and the other is the Tongsan Highway (from Tongjiang in Heilongjiang province to Sanya in Hainan province).
    Lian-Xu, Fen-Guang, Ning-Lian expressways have been established. Lianyungang has achieved the aim of total expressway in traffic. The total expressway mileage in every 100 square kilometers of land is 3.27 kilometers, which has shortened the time to reach the main neighboring cities. For example, it just takes 3 hours to arrive in Nanjing, 5 hours to arrive in Shanghai, 2 hours to arrive in Xuzhou and 2.5 hours to arrive in Qingdao.There are more than 10 national and interprovincial highways including National Highway 310, National Highway 204 and National Highway 327 across Lianyungang. The city enjoys a multi-level and all-direction highway network with expressways, national & interprovincial highways as well as city & county roads.
