International railway cargo
transportation: The new Eurasian
Continental Bridge, opened to
customers on December 1st, 1992,
starts from Lianyungang in the
east, crosses the middle,
central and west parts of China
as well as many countries in
middle-Asia and Europe, and
finally reaches Rotterdam of
Netherlands. As the shortest
Eurasian Continental Bridge with
the length of 10,900 kilometers
linking the pacific and the
Atlantic, it provides convenient
and reliable transportation
passage and promotes the
communication and cooperation of
international economy and
technology.
Domestic
railway passenger and cargo transportation
is accessible from all directions. The
Jinghu Railway, Jingjiu Railway and Longhai
Railway ramify all over China. Designed
annual transportation capacity of
Lianyungang Section of Longhai Railway line
is 60 million tons, while the actual
transportation volume was 28.48 million tons
in 2004. This means there is great potential
as far as annual transportation capacity is
concerned.
