Lianyungang National Level New Pharmaceutical Base

    Lianyungang New Pharmaceutical Base of the national Torch Plan was authorized of establishment in December 2001. The base is located in the center area of Lianyungang Economic and Technological Development Zone, and its first stage planning is 1.78 sq.km., including 1.05 sq.km. of industrial land. In order to widen the development space, at the beginning of 2003, the eastern industrial park, the total area of which is 1 sq.km. with fully equipped facilities, is used as the second stage land for the new pharmaceutical base, and in the mean time, another 1 sq.km. in the Dapu Chemical Industry Zone is lined out for its medicine material production land.

    Currently, many backbone production enterprises are already established in the base, including Hengrui Group, Hengrui shares, Zhongjin Medicinal Packaging Co.,Ltd., Hansen Pharmacy, Senoh Medical Equipment Co.,Ltd., Kanion Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd, etc. Among these enterprises, two have been successfully listed on the market; one company has already completed its go-on-the-market guidance period and will soon be listed; four companies are high and new-technology enterprises of national level priority; and five have passed GMP authentication. The annual sales income of these enterprises account for 25% of the whole area, and their main products include over 200 types of Chinese and western medicine, over 30 types of chemical medicine, series medicine wrapping material and medical treatment equipment. The New Pharmaceutical Base mainly develops Chinese and Western medicine, chemical medicine, medical treatment equipment, medical wrapping material and other medical industry products and their supported products.

    In order to hasten the pace of the construction of the New Pharmaceutical Base, the Development Zone brings about many policies. It promulgates that enterprises entering the industry base enjoy preferential income tax, units or individuals engaged in technology transfer, development, advisory and technological service are exempt from income tax of their earnings and enjoy financial aid and preferential land price, outstanding technological achievements and industrialized projects will be rewarded. All of these policies provide a powerful policy guarantee for the construction of the base.
