On the morning of August 29, a special train loaded with 50 containers of photovoltaic supports departed from the China-Kazakhstan (Lianyungang) Logistics Cooperation Base, heading for Kashgar North Station in Xinjiang. Subsequently, the cargo will be transported by road directly to Navoi, Uzbekistan. This special train marks the first time that Lianyungang has organized a dedicated train shipment since the launch of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan freight train in 2022, signifying a further enhancement in Lianyungang's international multimodal transport service capabilities.
It is reported that the 1,156 tons of PV supports carried by this special train will be used in the construction of Uzbekistan’s national photovoltaic energy storage project. The cargo was jointly sourced by China-Kazakhstan Logistics Company and Lianyungang New Silk Road International Logistics Development Co., Ltd., and represents a customized transportation service product provided by China Railway Multi-modal Transport Shanghai Branch. Compared to the traditional all-rail transportation model, this rail-road combined transport route reduces the total transportation distance by nearly 500 kilometers. It not only optimizes customs clearance procedures but also integrates the advantages of rail transport, such as long-distance and large-volume capabilities, with the flexibility and “door-to-door” service of road transport. This enables rapid cargo transfer and seamless integration, significantly reducing intermediate stops and loading/unloading times, and further enhancing the overall transportation efficiency and delivery accuracy.
Su, the Manager of the Multimodal Transport Department at China-Kazakhstan Logistics Company, stated, “The rail-road combined transport model enables immediate dispatch of goods upon arrival, improving the situation of long waiting times for shipment under the all-rail transport method. At the same time, it can save customers approximately 500 yuan in logistics costs per natural container. This model provides enterprises with a variety of transportation options, achieving the goals of improving logistics efficiency and reducing logistics costs.”
As an important component of the southern corridor of the China-Europe freight train and the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan corridor contributes to the improvement of the transportation network of the New Eurasian Continental Bridge and further strengthens its function and position in the international logistics system.
To date, this route has achieved stable operation with two trains per month, carrying export goods such as Japanese and South Korean transit automobiles and components, as well as photovoltaic modules. Meanwhile, high-quality agricultural products, mineral products, and leather from Central Asia are also imported and distributed through Lianyungang via this “golden route”.
Lianyungang Port will continue to leverage its geographical and multimodal transport advantages, deepen logistics cooperation with Central Asian regions, and consistently support the smooth and stable operation of industrial and supply chains in countries and regions along the “Belt and Road”.
