Lianyungang is a province-level municipality in Jiangsu Province, with jurisdiction covering Donghai County, Guanyun County, Guannan County, Ganyu District, Haizhou District and Lianyun District, including 5 townships, 55 towns, 30 streets and 1737 villages (communities). The Municipal People's Government is located at No. 69, Chaoyang East Rd, Haizhou District. The land area of the city is 7,626 square kilometers, and the sea area is 7,516 square kilometers. By the end of 2024, the total household population reached 5.2691 million.

Lianyungang is strategically located along the central coastline of China and in the northeastern region of Jiangsu Province. lt serves as a vital link to the Yangtze River Delta Economic Circle in the south, borders the Shandong Peninsula Urban Agglomeration in the north, looks toward Japan and South Korea across the sea to the east, and anchors the Continental Bridge Economic Belt to the west. As the eastern starting point of the New Eurasian Land Bridge, the city stands at the convergence of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 2lst Century Maritime Silk Road. As one of China's first coastal open cities, Lianyungang is the most eficient and accessible seaport serving the central and western regions, playing a key role as a gateway for international trade and opening-up.
